NAESM's Capacity Building Assistance Program

NAESM provides capacity building assistance (CBA) in community planning for HIV prevention. NAESM's CBA team works with community planning groups, local and state health departments, community based organizations, and African American community members to increase Parity, Inclusion, and Representation (PIR) of African Americans members. For CBA to accomplish its PIR goal, skill building workshops are provided to African Americans involved in the HIV prevention community planning process. Workshops offered by CBA are:

  • Orientation to the Community Planning Process
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Leadership Development
  • Public Speaking and Persuasion Skills
  • Group & Meeting Facilitation
  • Diversity Sensitivity
  • Time Management

CBA empowers African American community members by increasing their skills, awareness, and knowledge related to the HIV prevention planning process.

CBA assists health departments and community planning groups in the recruitment and retention of African Americans interested/involved in the HIV prevention planning process. Examples of the CBA that can be provided include: conflict resolution; addressing the grievance processes; orientation to the community planning process; and diversity sensitivity to help African Americans become active and productive in the HIV prevention planning process.

CBA aids Community Based Organizations in making sure they are represented in the community planning process.

You can request CBA services by contacting your CDC project officer or the Capacity Building Branch at (404) 639-2918. Or contact NAESM directly at (404) 691-8880.

NAESM's CBA services are funded, primarily, by CDC.
